Pearl symbolism

The pearl symbolizes hope that Coyotito will go to school and save his people from poverty and lack of education. It also symbolizes greed from the people who want to take the pearl from Kino.

In Kino it brings out fear, hope, and desire because he is now rich and can buy whatever he wants. I think it does because now he can have whatever he wants and before he didn't have any money.

In Jauna she wants to get rid of the pearl because she can see its tearing them apart. I think that because she wants to have the simple life they've always had.

In the neighbors it brings out curiosity about the pearl Kino found, and when Coyotito got bit by the scorpion. I think that because they follow Kino and Juana wherever they go.

It brings out greed in the doctor because before Kino had money he denied his request for help. But now that Kino has the pearl hes willing to help Kino.

It brings out greed in the priest also. Because he thinks of all the repairs the church needs when he sees the pearl and how much its worth.

In the townspeople it brings out jealousy. They start being mad because they think its unfair, and that they should have found the pearl of the world.
